Dental Implants in Oklahoma City, OK

Restore Your Smile With a Dental Implant

Dental implants at Oral Surgery Specialists of Oklahoma are a popular and versatile choice for replacing missing or damaged teeth. At our office in Oklahoma City, OK, our board-certified surgeons provide patients with a range of benefits, including full functionality, a natural appearance, and the potential to last a lifetime. Dental implants are an appealing option because they completely restore the missing tooth from root to crown. The design can be used to restore a single tooth, replace multiple teeth as part of a bridge, or even support a full arch of missing teeth. Dental implants are also the only tooth replacement option that preserve the health of your jaw bone and prevent bone loss.

A dental implant is used to restore a missing tooth. Its unique design mimics the structure of a natural tooth and provides the support needed to chew, speak, and smile with ease. The implant post is the first piece placed in the mouth and acts in the same manner as a tooth’s root. It integrates with the jaw during the healing period and continues to stimulate jaw growth and health throughout the life of the implant. The crown is custom-made to look just like a natural tooth. When the dental implant post has healed, the crown is placed and secured to the post with the abutment. Once complete, the restoration can last a lifetime with good oral hygiene and routine dental checkups.

What Are Dental Implants

The Value of Dental Implants

It is important to understand that dental implants provide the best long-term value when restoring missing teeth or replacing removable dentures. That is why they are one of the most popular options of artificial or replacement teeth selected by patients and come highly recommended by oral surgeons across the country with the best success rates. Patients who choose dental implants over other replacement options enjoy the following benefits:

  • Stability. Patients can eat and speak with confidence, knowing that their implants are securely integrated with their jaw bone.
  • A natural looking smile. The crown is custom-made to blend with the natural teeth, allowing patients to smile with ease.
  • A permanent solution. Dental implants can last a lifetime with proper oral hygiene habits and routine dental checkups.
  • A healthy mouth and jaw bone. Dental implants stimulate the jaw bone, preventing bone loss, dental shifting, and periodontal disease. With proper care, patients do not need to undergo future procedures or investments to replace their implants, unlike other restorative options. By investing in dental implants early, patients can enjoy cost savings over time and revel in all the rewards of healthy gums and a beautiful new smile.

In some circumstances, patients require additional procedures, such as tooth extraction or bone grafting, to prepare the mouth for dental implant placement. When this is the case, patients sometimes require a separate procedure before placing the dental implant.

During the first surgical procedure, the oral surgeon places the dental implant post into the missing tooth socket. We offer a broad range of sedation options to make patients feel comfortable throughout this maxillofacial surgery.

During the healing period, the dental implant post integrates with the jaw bone, creating a sturdy base for the rest of the restoration. When the dental implants have integrated with the bone, a restorative dentist will fabricate the final crown, place it in the mouth, and secure it to the post using the abutment. This allows patients to function as though they have natural teeth, chewing tough foods like steak, biting into apples, and cleaning their teeth with routine brushing and flossing.

Dental Implants Aesthetic Zone

The aesthetic zone is the area of your teeth and gums that are visible when you smile. While all teeth and intraoral structures are important for good oral health, the aesthetic zone is especially important because it is what you and others will see when you smile broadly. Throughout the restorative process, we pay close attention to the harmony between the soft and hard tissues of your smile. Our goal is to ensure you achieve the most natural-looking, beautiful result possible.

Our skilled periodontist Dr. Fuller analyzes the tissues surrounding the implants and may use soft tissue grafting techniques to achieve an ideal gum-to-tooth ratio. This tissue preparation and attention to detail ensures symmetry along the gum line so that when your restorative dentist places the final crown, your teeth and gums appear beautifully balanced.

"I started having some problems with my teeth and just in the aging process would lose one here, lose one there. Dr. Bryan has been so good about being patient with me, answering all of my questions that I have. I was very nervous at the thought of having surgery because I hadn't ever had any of that until all of this started going on. And Dr. Bryan has been so very good to help me. He always comes into the room and chats for a few minutes before they start putting you under with the anesthetic. The staff are wonderful in getting you prepared for the surgery. They really do make you feel like they care about you. Getting dental implants has been a great decision for me. I'm very self-conscious about my smile, about how I look when I talk. Being able to have them in there permanently — not having to take your teeth out and put them in a jar at night or scrub them with this little toothbrush — I like having everything bolted in like my normal teeth were, and it just feels much better to me. It doesn't feel as intrusive to my lifestyle."

"I was at a job site, and I was eating a Tootsie Roll® Pop, and my front tooth just came off in my mouth, so I called Dr. Bryan right away in a panic, asked him, "Please, I need to see you right away." I showed him my tooth, and he said, "Well, that's a problem." He tried putting it back on by other means, and he explained to me, "You're going to need an implant." I was a little apprehensive. I had never had an implant, but he went through it step by step, so I was very, very comfortable with it. Recovery was really good. There was really no real pain afterwards. I didn't have to take any pain medication. The staff was really great. They put me at ease when I first came into the office. Dr. Bryan is really a great person. He really cares about your feelings and cares about how you're going to react to the procedure. It was a very, very good experience, it really was. My dental implants feel great. They feel like my real teeth. No more lollipops for me; no more Tootsie Roll® Pops. But obviously, it feels good. I think it looks good — at least my wife comments on it from time to time — and I've been very, very happy with the procedure."

"I had a fractured tooth, number 19. My general dentist and I decided that it would probably be a better plan to go have it extracted and then have Dr. Bryan do an implant on it. He’s a very professional person. The whole staff is very professional. They tell you what they’re going to do to you when they take you back, and the whole operatory — you can tell — is just very well-kept, sterile, and it just puts you at ease with everything. If you needed to have just a regular extraction done or an implant or anything else that he does as far as bone grafting, I wouldn’t recommend anyone else."

"I had an abscess in one of my lower jaw teeth that began to be a problem and learned from my local dentist that it needed to be extracted and would probably require an implant. I had lots of questions and a lot of anxiety, but I knew Dr. Bryan, and I knew that he was able to put my mind at ease, and I had all the confidence in the world that he could handle the issue. His reputation is impeccable. His honesty and integrity are beyond question. The staff here has just been exceptional. I would highly recommend Dr. Bryan."

"I had a problem with one of my front teeth. The tooth had been root canalled several times, and my dentist had suggested that I get it removed and fixed, and Dr. Goodson said the same thing — that we needed to take it out and do an implant. The staff here did a great job of making me feel at ease, and the process was really easy and painless. They explained everything very well. They provide you with an explanation beforehand, before you start the surgery. The procedure was on time; Dr. Goodson was always on time. Next thing I knew, we were in the waiting room recovering and ready to go home. The recovery really was quite easier than I had anticipated. There weren't any complications, and I was recovered in two days. From a standpoint of functionality and aesthetics, it feels good. Nobody has indicated that they noticed anything different about my smile or my teeth. I certainly would recommend anyone to come here for any oral surgery that they may need to have in the Oklahoma City or Edmond, OK, area."
